Because an AED is a medical device that delivers an electrical shock, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires a physician prescription to purchase an AED.
Commercial EMS provides this service if your organization does not have an existing medical director. Our Medical Director provides oversight and guidance to your AED Program, Commercial EMS instructors and course materials.
If your AED is used in the event of sudden cardiac arrest, Commercial EMS’ Medical Director will conduct a detailed medical review of the event, analyze the recorded data, evaluate the logistics of the patient care delivered and submit a detailed report to the appropriate agencies as required.
